Director of Food Services, Boulder Valley School District
Carolyn Villa is the dedicated Director of Food Services for Boulder Valley School District and a trailblazer in the school food industry.
Following in the visionary footsteps of Chef Ann Cooper, Carolyn is passionately committed to providing nutritious meals and has been instrumental in revolutionizing BVSD’s food program, laying the groundwork for scratch-cooked, locally sourced, and maximally nutritious meals that set a new standard for school dining. Her emphasis on locally sourced ingredients has been instrumental in developing strong partnerships with local farmers and ensuring a viable business model for those community partners. In addition to 56 schools, Carolyn also oversees the state-of-the-art BVSD Culinary Center.
As an Advisory Board Member with the Chef Ann Foundation, Carolyn values the opportunity to carry forward Chef Ann’s legacy, empowering the next generation with healthier and more sustainable nutrition options. She actively consults with other school districts to implement Central Kitchens and scratch-cooking - using the success of BVSD as the model.
